在“美术”被日渐异化的今天，丑而无术的“美术”作品比比皆是，已有泛滥之势。因此，柳毅水彩画的探索更显得弥足珍贵。要实现美术在当代的正本归复，亟须一批有社会责任感、有美学理想、有审美素养、有美术技能的艺术家共同努力。
柳毅是一位始终在全力追寻真美的艺术家：他在“写真景物、真感情”并“传递事物之神”的过程中确立了自己美的境界；他在优雅、清丽、朦胧的抒情描写中塑造了自己美的格调；他在“寻求作品的气韵和文化内涵”中提升了自己美的品位；从而成就了他水彩画艺术的美的特色。

        柳毅是一位始终勤奋努力、不断创新求变的艺术家，回望他水彩画的创作轨迹，从“江南水乡”、“江南园林”到“芭蕾人物”、“新芭蕾”，再到“民族风情”，他每一阶段的水彩画都有新的主题、新的追求、新的意境和技巧，因而他的水彩画艺术始终保持了一种生机勃勃的前进态势。我相信他今后会有更大的成就。

Foreword

Whilst “Art” has been     , unlovely and skilless “Art” everywhere, without stop. Therefore, Liu Yi’s watercolour painting’s exploration seems fairly precious. For sake of the original place of art in the contemporary world, which require a group of responsible, ambitious, skillful arts work together.
Liu Yi is an artist who is always chasing the true beauty: during the exploration of his “realistic object, realistic emotion” and “expression of the spirit of thing”, established his own beauty of realm; in “exploration of artistic conception and culture intention”, raised his art perception; thus he achieved an unique style of beauty with watercolour art.
Liu Yi is also an artist who is chasing the perfection in skill, his watercolour painting not only has accurate figure and charming atmosphere, but also elaborate the language of “water” and “colour” into ultimate realm, in his paintings, water and colour blending, naturally floating,      , reached the acme of perfection, which became his unique skill of watercolour art.
Liu Yi is a hard working, innovative artist, to look back the track of his watercolour creation, from “Jiangnan water village”, “Jiangnan Garden”, to “Ballet”, “New ballet”, and to “Folk custom”, every stage of the work has new topic, new aim, new realm and technique, thus his watercolour art is always live and vibrant.
